Eaton announced several products at Automation Week in Nashville this November (2013), Industrial modems, routers and Ethernet switches!

New Cellular Modem & IP Router Delivers Wireless Data Connectivity at 3G Network Speeds 
Eaton has announced the release of the ELPRO 615M-1 Cellular Modem and Internet Protocol (IP) Router for industrial applications. The new ELPRO 615M-1 is a powerful, multi-service provider cellular broadband router that delivers wireless data connectivity for up to two local area network (LAN) connections and one serial port through public cellular networks at 3G network speeds. It is pre-configured for ease of deployment with little to no infrastructure cost.

“The ELPRO Cellular Modem & IP Router provides a complete integrated solution that is flexible and versatile for robust connectivity, allowing for rapid deployment of projects, increased insight and control for streamlining of operations, and ensures safety and compliance in remote locations,” said Steven Toteda, vice president and general manager, Eaton Wireless Business Unit. “As long as you have a cellular signal, the 615M-1 can be used to resolve security and maintenance problems, reducing or eliminating the need to expose workers to existing or potential hazards acting as a portable or temporary solution.” 

The ELPRO 615M-1 allows users to achieve long distance communications virtually anywhere, regardless of line-of-sight, with cellular access and high-speed data connectivity of up to 14.4 megabits per second (Mbps). The new modem also features multicarrier support for global use, support of static or dynamic IP addressing, secure network functionality and high performance antenna diversity for challenging cellular environments.Eaton/Page 2

The 615M-1 is ready to deploy, easy to install and easy to use. It configures easily via webpage configuration and over-the-air configuration and diagnostics. It also integrates simply with third-party products and legacy systems, providing flexible, adaptable, secure and reliable communications. Designed to fit into enclosures and compact spaces, the 615M-1 installs with DIN rail or panel mount.

Built for demanding applications and extreme environmental conditions, the rugged design is suitable for numerous applications such as pump station, water distribution network, pipeline, tank farm and wellhead monitoring in the water & wastewater and oil & gas markets. It is also suited for diverse applications such as networking wind turbines and solar collectors.

The ELPRO 615M-1 meets key certifications and compliance and is Underwriter Laboratory (UL) Listed, Class I Division 2, FCC Part 15, Industry Canada, CE, A-Tick, IEC 60950-1, PTCRB.

Ethernet Switch Portfolio Provides Network Connectivity in Wired and Wireless Industrial Applications 

Ideal for industrial applications, the ELPRO Ethernet switch product portfolio features both managed and unmanaged configurations, providing users with an integrated and complete industrial network infrastructure solution. 

“The product line’s unique features help enable end-to-end network connectivity and easily integrate with our range of market-leading wireless solutions,” said Steven Toteda, vice president and general manager, Eaton. “These products provide an overall increase in network performance and reliability, designed to provide end users a productive and safe solution with a lower total cost of ownership.” 

Products integrate with ELPRO wireless networks to connect remote sensors, actuators and instrumentation to mission critical monitoring and control system programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control system (DCS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA). 

The Ethernet switch portfolio includes the ELPRO 1050 E-T, a 5-port unmanaged Ethernet switch ideal for extended temperature used to meet the demands of industrial environments. It is easy to use and simple to install with DIN-rail or wall-mount options and supports Ethernet switching to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.3 10Base-T Eaton and 802.3u 100Base-TX specifications. It includes full-duplex performance and flow control to help ensure maximum performance for unmanaged switch deployments.

Also available is the ELPRO 2080E-T, an 8-Port managed Ethernet switch designed for harsh industrial applications. It is equipped with an innovative self-recovery scheme ideal for quickly recovering a fault in a ring network.

Finally, the ELPRO 5073E-T is a 7-port gigabit plus 3-port gigabit fiber-managed Ethernet switch with DIDO software for high-speed, industrial applications. It is equipped with three combo ports and an innovative self-recovery scheme, ideal for building gigabit rings. The DIDO function adds flexibility and can support additional open/close physical contact for designated applications besides port/power events.

All switches are designed to balance data traffic and recover from network failures quickly and easily. Switches offer remote management, quality-of-service to prioritize critical messages and self-healing ring technology for quick recovery from lost links. Industrial, critical safety ratings and slim design help support seamless deployment in many locations.
