#ISApowid Truly international power symposium

The 55th Annual ISA Power Industry Division (POWID) Symposium celebrated another successful event in its 55-year history with attendees coming from as far away as Australia, the Netherlands and China and Hawaii. This year’s symposium, held in Austin (TX USA) in early June, gave power generation industry leaders the opportunity to network with peers; to view the latest products and services, showcased by 28 industry vendors; and to attend presentations on the industry hot topics, focused around nuclear and fossil fuel power generation.

This Symposium provided professionals with information on the latest innovations in controls, instrumentation, cybersecurity, Smart Grid, regulatory issues and variable energy technologies. Attendees participated in technical sessions, interest group meetings, panel discussions, vendor exhibits and optional certified training sessions.

Christopher Guith, vice president for policy at the US Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy, and Allan Wilson, president and CEO of Veros Systems, Inc., were the featured keynote speakers. Guith focused his presentation on the need to develop sound energy policies and practical energy projects. Wilson focused on future innovation opportunities for power generation including gas, solar, coal and wind sources.

The 56th Annual ISA POWID Symposium is scheduled for 2–7 June 2013 in Orlando (FL USA).
