GF Piping Systems Introduces Signet Transmitter with Single Channel Interface and Superior Display Visibility

GF Piping Systems displayed the new Signet 9900 Transmitter at Automation Week 2011.  The new device features multi-parameter capabilities and an innovative auto-sensing ‘at-a-glance’ display that allows easy visibility, even in dark conditions.

The Signet 9900 Transmitter provides a single channel interface for many different parameters including Flow, pH/ORP, Conductivity/Resistivity, Pressure, Temperature, Level, Salinity and other sensor types that output a 4 to 20 mA signal.  The single channel, multi-parameter capability and field upgradable modularity allows customers to increase their service level all while maintaining reduced inventory levels.

A key feature to the new device is its extra large (3.90” x 3.90”) auto-sensing backlit display that allows visibility at 4-5 times the distance of other transmitters.  This highly illuminated display and large characters reduce the risk of misreading or misinterpreting the displayed values.  The display shows separate lines for units, main and secondary measurements as well as a dial-type digital bar graph.  Other capabilities include relay and warning LEDs and an intuitive menu for easy programming

Designed for complete flexibility, plug-in modules enable the unit to be easily adapted to meet changing customer needs.  Optional modules include Relay, Direct Conductivity/ Resistivity, H COMM, and a PC COMM configuration tool.  The unit can be used with default values for quick and easy programming or can be customized with labeling, adjustable minimum and maximum dial settings, and unit and decimal measurement choices.  The versatile device also allows third-party 4 to 20 mA signals to be used as an input (optional 8058 module required).

“The 9900 Transmitter was developed to provide many new features for customers, while maintaining many of the features our customers have come to expect from our ProcessPro® and ProPoint® lines,” says Anant Babtiwale, GF Piping Systems Product Manager.  “In addition to its single channel for multiple parameters, the new display makes it very easy to read in dark environments at 4-5 times the distance of other transmitters.”

The 9900 is offered in both panel or field mount versions.  Both configurations can run on 12 to 32 VDC power (24 VDC nominal).  The 9900 can also be loop powered with compatible sensors.  Output accuracy is ±32 μA maximum error @ 25ºC @ 24 VDC with resolution of 6 μA or better. Standards and approvals include NEMA 4X/IP65, CE, UL and China RoHS.

Its versatile parameter and modularity capabilities make the unit well suited for a variety of applications including wastewater treatment, reverse osmosis, deionization, chemical manufacturing, metal and plastic finishing, fume scrubbers, cooling towers and media filtration.
